ashes to ashes

Today, while browsing, I came across a young Chinese artist from Shanghai named Yang Yongliang. I have to say, his work is pretty impressive. His latest installment is a collection of finely placed and cut black and white photographs of cityscapes and skylines, in collage form, to create what looks like piling cigarette ash. The whole piece looks sort of pixelated and 3D. The final product came out looking pretty cool. Here's some links about Yang Yongliang:

  2. Thanks for astrology info my friend. Also today i have discovered that ash from cigarette is good for the flowers in the flowerpot. Try to put some of ash and soon in that place will be grass growing. It's amazing :)

  17. Carries a bit of an apocalyptic vibe to it. Perhaps its the color scheme causing me to think that but somehow even the color pieces in the gallery come across as somber to me. Beauty in the breakdown kind of pictures is what i see here. thanks for sharing ^_^
