So...awhile back I found these exceedingly interesting surrealistic paintings by Japanese Artist Tetsuya Ishida (1973-2005). A great deal of his paintings depict working class citizens as machines. Perhaps this is to symbolize the great work ethic and constant need to move forward that is represented in Japanese culture? Or possibly to show one's "trapped" environment as a working class citizen.He died in May 2005, when he was hit by a train. However, it is believed to be suicide. Furthering the idea of the eternal prison that he shows through harsh production lines and cruel machinery.
